We learn better when we learn together.

At JRC, we believe something special happens when generations meet. Our Intergenerational Connections Program brings children from our Learning Centers together with seniors from our Adult Day Center in meaningful, weekly interactions that foster growth, joy, and belonging for everyone involved.

Intergenerational Connections

A Model That Benefits Both Generations

Through this program, children and seniors participate in planned activities that encourage interaction, from story time and music to games and creative projects. The relationships that form are natural and mutual. Children often refer to the seniors as “Grandma” and “Grandpa.” Seniors light up with purpose and energy. And every interaction reinforces the message that you matter here.

  • For Children
These experiences support developmental growth, boost empathy, and help children connect with others outside their own age group.

  • For Seniors
Regular engagement with children encourages movement, memory, and joy helping to slow cognitive and physical decline through active participation.

  • For the Community
We’re building a culture of mutual care where every person, at every age, is seen, valued, and included. That sense of belonging builds stronger neighborhoods and a more compassionate, connected community for us all.
