JRC’s Intergenerational Connections Program (IG Program) has been on hold due to the pandemic, but that did not stop the senior/adults and children from interacting on ZOOM periodically.

This Summer of 2021 the children and seniors were becoming reacquainted remotely with some being introduced for the first time. They were introducing themselves with everyone responding hello while repeating their names.  They were both excited to see each other after so very long. Some of the children and seniors were returning to the program they remembers before the pandemic while others were meeting for the very first time.

The children shared photos of themselves with the seniors and described what they were doing in the photos. It was fun to hear their descriptions.

They played a rhythm game where they followed a video of tapping out beats - the seniors with noodles and the children with rhythm sticks.  This was a great memory exercise along with physical exercise and hand agility.

Every week we begin as always with a senior/child/teacher holding the American Flag and leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

JRC is excited to start in person on July 21, 2021in our new Community Room at the Myrna A. Pastore JRC Campus with a volleyball game playing of course with a balloon. Some seniors in their chairs and some on their feet. The children were very excited to be jumping and aiming that ball over the net.  Since the Olympics was in full swing, they considered it an honor to learn and play the game while cheering for the US athletes.

Beginning on July 28th our instructors will begin to return to our program.  Beginning with our Yoga Instructor working with both groups in person at our JRC Adult Day Center.

On August 4, 2021 a football memory game in the Community Room was played between both groups while honoring the beginning of the football season.
